I was asked to describe my real experience when reporting a theft. During the process, I was required to pay a sum of ₦10,000 before my report could be officially recorded.
While the officers attended to me and the process was eventually completed, the request for payment raised concerns about transparency and fairness. Ideally, reporting a theft should be straightforward and free of unnecessary financial obligations, especially in urgent situations.
Going forward, there is a need for clearer guidelines and improved accountability in handling such cases. Making the process more transparent and accessible would help build public trust and encourage more people to report incidents without hesitation.
